The Air Jordan 1 Zoom Racer Blue has just been been announced, showing Jordan Brand’s new commitment to making more comfortable models of their old shoes. This is following the Air Jordan 1 Zoom High that was released late last year as part of their Fearless collection, and the Air Jordan SB’s that featured Zoom Air insoles.

As the original Jordan 1 was made with a rubber outsole and a leather upper, although the shoe is still very popular, thanks to Adidias’ boost technology, the shoes lack of comfort is more noticeable than ever. To combat this Jordan have released a plethora of new versions of the iconic model, including in 2018, when they released FlyKnit versions of some of their most popular colorways, such as the “Bred,” and “Royal,” 1’s. Although these pairs did get a decent amount of positive feedback, they sat on shelves for months after their release.

Since then, Jordan Brand have attempted to make a version of the Air Jordan 1 with Nike’s new React foam in the midsole. Again, the shoe was praised for its comfort, and it was even quite successful commercially, however it was not so popular online. Its boot-like shape and drastically changed look caused it to be very unpopular with a lot of Jordan’s core fan base.

This leads us to the present day, and the reveal of the Air Jordan 1 Zoom Racer Blue. It features a predominantly grey and white leather upper, with translucent ankle flaps and a mesh section around the ankle as well. The shoe shares the same semi-translucent outsole as the Air Jordan 1 Zoom Fearless, and the same retail price of $175. Expect to see this pair on Nike’s SNKRS page, on the 14th of March.
