Melody Ehsani is a successful designer from Los Angeles, who, after making waves in the fashion world with her brand ME., has started to make waves in the world of shoes as well. Last year, she created the highly successful Air Jordan 1 Mid, as part of Jordan’s Fearless collection, and after seeing it sell out across america, Jordan Brand have partnered with the designer once again.
To understand why this is big news, we must understand the popularity of the Air Jordan 1 Mid. Late last year, the Air Jordan 1 Mid soared in popularity, partially thanks to the Fearless collection including Ehsani’s model. It received attention for its positive messages inscribed on the shoe, and the watch faces that were attached to the laces. Although the shoe was a Women’s exclusive, anyone who could get their hands on the sneakers have worn them, including Chris Rock who showed off his pair recently on SNL.
As a result of this success, Jordan Brand and Melody Ehsani are collaborating again, and have decided to work on the Air Jordan Womens OG, the first Jordan basketball shoe designed specifically for Women. The shoe was retro-ed earlier this year, with Teyana Taylor as the face of its comeback, and Melody Ehsani has now decided to make her own version, stating that she has been a strong advocate for women’s basketball since she was 11.
The Melody Ehsani x Air Jordan Womens OG is dressed in all black with a few red hits, and shoe features the classic Jump man logo on the tongue, and Ehsani’s ME. logo on the back. Melody Ehsani on her social media has said the inspiration for her new shoe, is the WNBA, and the many trailblazers of women’s basketball. The shoe’s exact release date has not yet been revealed but we know it will come out at some point in March, so look out for the sneaker when it hits shelves soon.
